INVITATION FOR APPLICATIONS FOR APPOINTMENT AS MEMBER OF
ELECTORAL COMMISSION: ELECTORAL ACT, 2014

In terms of section 6 read with section 7 of the Electoral Act, 2014 (Act No. 5 of 2014), I invite
interested persons to apply, in writing, for appointment as a member of the Electoral Commission to
hold office, with effect from the date of his or her appointment, for a period not exceeding five years.
It is required that at least two members of the Commission must be women.

Applications must be submitted in writing accompanied by a comprehensive Curriculum Vitae, a
certified copy of the applicant’s identity document, relevant academic qualifications and any other
relevant documentation.

The Selection Committee established in terms of section 5 of the Electoral Act, 2014 shall shortlist
and interview the applicants. Interviews held with the short-listed applicants shall be open to the
public and that Committee shall in writing recommend to the President not less than eight suitable
applicants to be considered for appointment as member of the Commission.

The successful applicant is, as member of the Electoral Commission, entitled to sitting and honorarium
allowances, subject to certain conditions of service.
